LEGO OCEAN
3D Animation
Through many conversations and debates about the pros and cons of all kinds of programs, Leon Monschauer (fellow student and crisis consultant) and I came up with the idea to start a little experiment. We found it fascinating how The Lego Movie managed to represent every little thing as Lego bricks. It quickly became clear that the ocean waves were the most impressive, and we gave ourselves the task of recreating this animation in the programs we felt comfortable with. Leon usually works in Houdini and Redshift and I in Cinema 4D and Octane. Afterwards, we compared our solutions.
I really enjoyed the task and it was interesting to see that our different approaches nevertheless produced very similar results.
